This paper reports the cracking behavior of nacre-like staggered biomaterial with pre-crack. Simulation has shown 2 crack routes originates from pre-crack and strain localization. The strain energy development shows that the model with precrack has better performance. A stability based semi-analytical model is introduced to show the dynamic strain localization and crack initiation process. We believe that the pre-crack breaks the even strain distribution and enhances the systematic stability.
