In order to improve an appreciable degradation of lifetime in cyclic fatigue two different methods adding pre-load before cycling loading were suggested. Test results showed that adding a pre-loading stress more than cyclic loading stress after introducing indentation crack was more effective method for increasing fatigue lifetime. It was supposed that the process zone formed ahead of crack tip by pre-loading suppressed the occurrence of micro-cracks and the process zone wake extended behind crack tip caused the increases of resistance on crack extension.
