A near-optimal solution method of a large-scale structural design problem of a distributed energy network, consisting of multiple energy supply systems under power and heat interchanges, was developed by hierarchically utilizing the Benders decomposition and the Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition in order to enhance computational efficiency and scalability. The developed near-optimal solution method was applied to a structural design of a distributed energy network for 25 consumers, which is formulated using mixed-integer linear programming. The results showed the advantage of the developed near-optimal solution method over the conventional solution method.
