The wetting area on the horizontal square rod array was experimentally determined for 4 different rod gaps, 3 different kinds of rod, 3 different temperatures and 5 different volumetric flow rates to predict the coolant behavior onto the stator coil of automobile. According to the experimental results, it was observed that the higher viscosity and narrower gaps, the larger and circular the wetting area becomes. Conversely, the wetting area became smaller and rectangle. The volume flow rate doesn’t affect to the wetting shape largely. Moreover, the results were formulated including the viscosity, flow velocity, rod gap and the size of square rod to get a unified trend.
