Abstract
Road network is important and indispensable infrastructure for transportation service. How to maintain road surface profile in good conditions for comfortable and safe traffic is a theme to be efficiently dealt with. A new measurement method as sequential two angles is proposed and a manually and easily operable device, which makes it possible to evaluate the profile, is developed. It has become difficult to evaluate by the conventional method by the device using laser instrument. The device consists of three rollers one of which is located in the middle and other two are connected by bars to outside from located in the middle. The angle of the third roller along profile of the road can be detected by encoder attached to the roller in the middle. By knowing the angle between the first and the middle roller, the total profile for the span of three roller can be identified. If the process is sequentially continued, the profile could be successively obtained for long range of the road surface.
