Abstract
Natural convection heat transfer of a stratified two liquid layers system in a rectangular enclosure with heated and cooled from the opposing vertical wall was investigated experimentally. The experiments were carried out for stratified two liquid layers such as silicone oil-silicone oil system at the same volumetric ratio of each liquid. Those silicone oils are insoluble in each other. Various combinations of liquids with different densities and kinematic viscosities were investigated. The shape of the interface, the velocity and the temperature fields and average Nusselt number were investigated. And the effects of the density difference and kinematic viscosity difference on the shape of the interface, the velocity distribution and average Nusselt number were clarified.
