Abstract
The flow around a circular cylinder, which is placed near a rigid plane boundary, with tangential blowing is investigated experimentally under the condition of Re=2.7×10^4. The time-mean surface pressure measurements and flow visualizations were carried out for various momentum coefficient C_μ, slot locations θ_J and clearances between the circular cylinder and the rigid plane boundary, H/D. The results of experiment show that the reverse flow occurs in the gap at certain C_μ. The value of C_μ for the occurrence of reverse flow in the gap depends on θ_J and H/D. In addition, the characteristics of the lift forces can be represented by a newly defined nominal jet momentum coefficient C_μ' and nominal lift coefficient C_<I.>' for 30°≦θ_J≦110°.
