Abstract
A dynamic damper using a Mn-Cu alloy spring to reduce vertical vibrations of long-span pedestrian bridges is proposed. First, vibration tests using vibration test model pedestrian bridge model and dynamic damper model carried out to investigate the vibration reduction effects applicability of the dynamic damper for earthquake waves. Next, seismic response analyses of the vibration test model were carried out to investigate the validity of analytical method for the dynamic damper using the Mn-Cu alloy form these results, it is model clear that the responses of the pedestrian bridge can de reduced sufficiently using the Mn-Cu alloy spring by applying the dynamic damper.
