Abstract
In the present study, we investigated the mechanism of side jet generation by numerical calculation. The side jet occurrence condition is that inflow gaseous density smaller enough than ambient gas. The side jet is the jet phenomenon at right angles with mainstream flow direction. The side jet is expected that used for mixture control. The analysis of vortical structure by ∇^2P has shown the side jet occur between two longitudinal vortical structures that difference direction of rotation. Also, the analysis of these longitudinal vortical structures and baroclinic torque by (∇ρ×∇p) have shown longitudinal vortical structures reach out from the rip of baroclinic ring. Consequently, the vortical structure breakdown by the instability of the shear layer and baroclinic torque play an important role in the side jet generation.
