It is well known that the component proportion of gasoline varies depending on the extraction time of crude oil and the production country. Of course, effect of the engine performance and the emission on a little. This points, this experiment has been carried out to examine the effect of fuel property on the emission characteristics (CO, HC, NOx, etc.) by using surrogate fuel in a small gasoline engine. The two kinds of main component fuel were used for the test base fuel (50vol% Iso-Octane and 25vol% Toluene). The other addition fuels were selected pure fuel (10 kinds of fuel: Iso-Octane, Toluene, Pentane, Hexane, Heptane, Octane, Di-Isobutylene, Methylcyclohexane, P-Xylene, Ethanol), it was mixed 25vol% in the base fuel. The main conclusions are as follows, 1) It is possible to reduce HC emissions by adding toluene for a small gasoline engine, 2) The NOx emissions can be achieved by adding single component fuel under the high revolution speed for a small gasoline engine, 3) The NOx emissions under the high revolution speed for a small gasoline engine remarkable decrease by adding the heptane and octane, respectively.
