To improve the thrust vectoring ability of an electric fan engine, we installed three bearing-type Swivel nozzle to a miniature turbofan engine powered by an electric motor. The small fan engine system was experimentally investigated at two typical nozzle angles, i.e., horizontal nozzle(referred to as 0-degree nozzle) and vertical nozzle(90-degree nozzle). Jet from nozzle and fan characteristics performance were measured at each nozzle angle. As the main results, jet velocity distribution at the nozzle exit was symmetric for the 0-degree nozzle, whereas Dean flow and flow separation were observed for the 90-degree nozzle. The pressure rise of the fan decreased by 26 % in maximum value for the 90-degree nozzle compared to the 0-degree nozzle. The influence on the secondary flow field in the 90-degree nozzle leads to a decrease in fan performance on the electric fan engine.
