Abstract
This paper discusses a system for automatically constructing a database of cutting conditions containing information on cutting methods. Cutting conditions are sometimes modified by experienced operators and engineers in order to obtain optimum cutting conditions. It is therefore useful to construct a database for use when generating NC programs on CAM systems. The CAM system can identify cutting conditions and the cutting method applied from cutting tool motion and removed volume, which are identified by a NC simulator using a Z-map model, and automatically stores the cutting conditions and the cutting methods modified by the operator. The modified information can be obtained from the machine tool through networks at real-time.
