Abstract
The virtual machine tool environment proposed in this paper presents a solution for seamlessly connecting all aspects of machine tool motion control system design. It captures the characteristics of both mechanical and electrical subsystems. The performance of the entire integrated system can be evaluated by changing parameters of interest. This method will contribute to the improvement of digital engineering design capability for machine tool builders. A feasibility study has been performed by simulation and the results show that it is an effective tool to relate the mechanical design and the control system design.
