Abstract
In this paper, a flexible circular saw is applied to curved line cutting of a plate. In this process, the circular saw is deflected like a bowl by pushing the center of the circular saw on the circular rest. The curved line can be cut by the bowl-like-deflection. The deflection of flexible circular saw is analyzed by FEM. As a result, it is shown that the flexible circular saw is able to cut curved line without interaction between saw body and machined surface. In addition, suitable slit shapes in the saw body were proposed from the viewpoint of deflection curvature and vibration mode.
