Abstract
Occurrence of chatter decreases productivity in machining. The purpose of this study is to obtain a fast detection method of chatter expected in high speed end-milling during continuous change of spindle speed, which is encountered on adaptive control of spindle speed. For this purpose, pseudo auto-correlation function is applied to tool vibration data sampled at intervals of constant rotation angle of spindle. It was concluded that detection reliability by the proposed method was approximately equal to the detection reliability by the previous methods by using tool vibration data sampled at intervals of constant time.
