Abstract
In this study, a method to fabricate micro-probes was proposed by utilizing the abnormal wear phenomenon on the tool end-surface in micro EDM. The relationship between the micro-hole formation and the discharge condition was experimentally investigated. Also by mounting a ruby ball to this centered hole at the micro-pin end face, a micro-probe was fabricated. It was found from experiments that, the micro hole's shape and diameter can be controlled by the discharge energy and the machining time, and a micro ruby ball can be easily fixed coaxially to shaft end face because the existence of the micro-hole.
