This paper deals with a new semi-active control device to suppress the self-excited vibration generated on a thin film supported by an air turn bar with a slit. The self-excited vibration is actively controlled and suppressed by the moving-magnet linear actuator which made quicker by winding coils on both poles of the U-shaped stator core. The semi-active control device in the air turn bar affects the fluid force which is a cause of the self-excited vibration. As a result, it is experimentally and theoretically shown that the self-excited vibration is effectively suppressed by the proposed semi-active control device.
