These days, renewable energies attract world's attention. However, renewable energies, such as photovoltaic generation (PV), have unstable outputs. Gas engines (GE) is able to be used to compensate renewable energies. In this study, more efficient operation method was introduced. This method using GE with variable engine speeds showed great results in efficiency and ability to control larger PV. To confirm this variable engine speed method is effectual, we simulated the ability to control PV using discrete event engine model (DEM) and mean value engine model (MVM). These two models are able to consider fire conditions by used in combination. In addition, we functionalized loss toque by multiple regression analysis to ensure the efficacy of variable engine speed method. Finally, variable engine speed method showed the ability to control 0.2kW larger PV and contribution to about 8% more efficient system. In conclusion, variable engine speed method is the valid method for more efficient operation in compensating renewable energies.
