Abstract
The relationship between the sounds and acoustic fields has been investigated by many researchers in diverse ways. The development of the analysis has led to the hope that we can analyze the relationship more accurately and in more various situations. As one of the situations, two cavities connected by an elastic plate with small holes are readily accessible, such as in living-rooms, cars and household electric appliances. In the previous studies, however, the elastic plate was analyzed as being rigid. The vibration of the plate is expected to affect sound pressure, damping and sound absorption rate in the two cavities. In this study, a structural acoustic coupling analysis is carried out for the two cavities coupled by an elastic plate with a small hole to demonstrate the effects on the sound properties. Furthermore, the validity of the analytical model is verified by comparing the calculated results with the experimental measurement.
