Characterization of acoustic properties of polymer films, e.g., acoustic impedance, ultrasonic velocity, etc., is important because those relate the physical and chemical properties of the films. The method for measuring the acoustic properties of polymer films utilizing acoustic resonance phenomenon is reported where the ultrasound is transmitted into the water/polymer film/tungsten plate interface. The acoustic properties of LDPE, PVC and PVDC films are characterized. It is found that the micro bubbles in the film can be detected by the change in the density of the film.
