This paper describes thermal conductivity measurement of prepregs for printed circuit boards (PCBs). Prepregs have anisotropy of thermal conductivity depending on the direction of glass fibers. We designed two types of prepregs with different pattern of glass fibers. One is for the measurement of thermal conductivity of prepregs in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of glass fibers (thermal conductivity perpendicular to the glass fibers). Other is for the measurement of thermal conductivity of prepregs along the longitudinal direction of glass fibers (thermal conductivity along the glass fibers). Experimental results showed that thermal conductivity along the glass fibers was up to 28 percent higher than thermal conductivity perpendicular to the glass fibers.
