We conducted direct numerical simulations with the fundamental equations of incompressible flow in order to examine the influence of uniformly melting or solidification walls on turbulent boundary layers. As a result of the simulations, in the case of solidification on a wall, the flow field tended to be laminar because turbulent structures were absorbed into the wall. On the other hand, when the wall was melting, the turbulent kinetic energy increased continuously. Furthermore, according to the investigation of energy transfer of the turbulent kinetic energy and quadrant decomposition of the Reynolds shear stress, we found that sweep followed wall surface regardless of the profiles of the mean velocity, and these phenomena promoted the wall turbulence.
