The index U^* and U^*_<sum> were introduced by K.Takahashi to show the load paths in a structure. In this paper, load transfer distribution in frame structure is represented using the U^*_<sum> histogram. It is necessary that the U^*_<sum> value of member parts is close to 1, and the values of other parts are close to 0. Structural optimization using a genetic algorithm is calculated and the objective function is set to the U^*_<sum> values of frame member and other parts. In the optimized model, thick area means frame member is differentiated from thin area means other parts, and the shape is similar to a truss structure. In addition, stiffness increases during the optimization although only load transfer is considered, and the importance of load transfer is confirmed.
