Abstract
This paper reports about an application of small size hot water heat pumps for a washing process. The heat pump produces 64 Centigrade water at maximum to keep the water temperature constant, using twin rotary comressors driven by a high efficiency inverter motor. The working fluid is R410A. The heat pump output was 4.5 kW with COP 2.5 under the condition that atmospheric temperature is 25 Centigrade and hot water temperature at heat pump inlet is 55 Centigrade. A couple of the heat pumps was applied to a washing process of a furniture manufacturing factory, instead of a boiler. Air in the manufacturing building was more than 30 Centigrade, and it was used as a low temperature heat source of the heat pump. As a result, it was confirmed that the heat pump was able to satisfy the planned paerformance. In addition manufacturing system was reduced by21% in primary energy consumption and 30% in CO_2 emissions.
