This study examines a driver assistance system to predict driving behavior considering the pre-preceding vehicle behavior. The assistance system indicates the evaluation index at the rear end of the preceding vehicle. Driving simulator experiments are conducted with participants who are required to follow the past two vehicles immediately ahead with/without the assistance system. The participants with the assistance system realize the driving behavior with the small relative velocity to the pre-preceding vehicle and the small acceleration. These effects make it possible to suppress the variation of the collision risk to the preceding vehicle and to reduce fuel consumption of the following vehicle.
