Wormlike micellar solution shows shear thickening at start-up regime of step shear flow. The viscosity is suddnely increased in this moment. In addition, wormlike micellar solution is formed shear banding on step shear flow. It is caused that shear rate changes discontinuously. We examine relationship between shear thickening and shear banding of wormlike micellar solution using by flow-birefringence visualization. The flow-birefrinence observation instrument is installed in a stress controlled rheometer. The flow filed in concentric cylindrical cell is observed from the axial direction and the shear stress is measured simultaneously. Accelerate shear flow is applied to control shear thickening generation. The flow flied in step shear is also observed. At low accetleration rate, the shear bands stably exist even the shear thickening is generated. In case of high acceleration rate, the thickness of the bands is fluctuated after the thickening is jumped back.
