Abstract
In recent years, the mechanism of insect flight has been attracting attention. Among them, dragonflies have been focused by many researchers. However, dragonfly's flight mechanism hasn't been made clear yet. They move their wings up and down, "flapping motion", and twist, "feathering motion", and can fly skillfully by controlling angle of them. Therefore these motions must be studied. In past study, it has not been studied about flapping motion and feathering motion under the condition of real dragonflies. In this study, lift and thrust force were measured with the flap simulator by changing its flapping angle and feathering angle. As a result, it was found that dragonflies generate various lift forces and thrust forces by varying their flapping and feathering angle. The case of large flapping angle and feathering angle generated high lift force and thrust, and generated large instantaneous force.
