Abstract
British George Cayley succeeded in flying a glider whose wings were fixed, carrying a person. It was 50 years before the flight success of Wright Flyer of the Wright brothers. The concept of fixed wings was totally different from preceding flight objects which imitated the fluttering of bird wings. So it was an epoch-making invention leading to the Wright Flyer. Therefore, in this study, the handling of the history of aviation in the textbooks of Secondary School compulsory education of the U.K. was inspected.
