Abstract
Bioactive Ti alloy for implant application has been developed by producing thin hydroxyl-apatite (HAp) film on its surface. The interfacial strength between the base metal and the HAp film has to be evaluated to ensure the reliability of the implant. But the method of evaluation is not yet established because of its difficulty to cause interfacial fracture between base metal and HAp thin film. In this study, we suggest a new testing method which is able to measure bond strength of Ti-alloy and HAp thin film. We focus on a process of preparing specimen, and evaluate bond strength between Ti-alloy and HAp thin film.
