We are tackling with the development of a device which can sterilize the terminal area of an indwelled urethral catherter easily and safely by medical workers, care workers, and the patient itself. The realization of this device can reduce the genesis risk of urinary tract infection, and leads also to a reduction of the infection expenditures rate to medical expenses. In the present study, we directed power towards the countermeasures against the heat which occurs from the ultraviolet-ray lamp of a sterilization device, and carried out the modification shown below to the sterilization device. (1) the temperature rise of the device is suppressed by the installations of cooling fans, exhaust heat holes, and double tube structure. (2) by installation of a thermostat, before the device reached a dangerous temperature, the radiation of the ultraviolet ray is ended. (3) by installation of a timer electric switch, the radiation of the ultraviolet ray is ended automatically by 60 [s] of the sterilization time required.
