Profile grinding tools are used as a finishing tool of several products such as gears, turbines, dies and molds. The tools are normally formed with special dies and molds or by using the diamond dresser. Hence, cost of the profile grinding tool is higher compared to general grinding wheel. In this study, we proposed a new forming method of the profile grinding tools with FDM 3D-Printer. An extruder machine for a filament material of the 3D-Printer was developed. The distributions of diameter of the extruded filament which mixed with abrasive were evaluated. The formed grinding tools have equivalent efficiency of commercialized rubber bonded wheel. However its wear volume was 80% higher. It is concluded from the result that the proposed new forming method of the grinding tools that using the FDM 3D-Printer and the abrasive mixed filament material has a possibility of the flexible manufacturing of profile grinding tools.
