When producing plastic products, considerable corrosion and wear occur on barrels and screw of injection molding machine. Corrosion gas environment resulted from molten plastic chemically reacts with surface of metals. Furthermore, wear damages are made by friction between glass-filled polymers and plasticizing parts. It is important to increase corrosion resistant and control wear damages of plasticizing parts for qualitative improvement of plastic products. Especially about corrosion, a few test methods like an immersion test by reagents are being conducted to evaluate corrosion resistance. However, in these tests it is difficult to evaluate corrosion and wear damages simultaneously. In this study, autoclave was used to simulate the corrosive wear environment at plasticization zone of injection molding machine. Test samples of SKD61 steel rotates in molten 25wt.% and 50wt.% glass fiber reinforced polyamide under high temperature and high pressure. As a result, corrosion damages and wear damages were confirmed at cross-section of SKD61 steel.
