Recently, air-bone type wind turbines which can fly in the sky and use high-speed wind at high altitude to generate efficiently, have attracted considerable attention. Our research team is developing new-type air-bone turbine with space tether technology. This system consists of a wind turbine floated in the sky by a kite and an electrical generator installed on the ground, and the power of the wind turbine is transmitted to the generator by tether revolution. Merits of this system is to be able to reduce the weight of floating body by installing the generator on the ground and generate efficiently and continuously by the tether. We propose using a straight blade wind turbine for this system. This paper introduces the outline of this wind power generation system and indicates development with wind tunnel experiment and field test and problems.
