This study investigated flow and vortex in the wake behind rice plants. The artificial model of rice plants were used as a test specimen in the wind tunnel experiment. Mainstream velocity of 10 m/s was based on the scaling law with reference to the field condition. Measurements of the flow velocity distribution, velocity fluctuation and pressure fluctuation were conducted by using the combined probe of the X-type hot-wire and the static pressure probe at the same time. The results showed that the velocity gradient and large disturbance were occurred at the upper part of the near the wake region behind the rice plants. High turbulent kinetic energy region was also observed. Vibration and interaction of the rice plants affect dissipation of the turbulent kinetic energy.
