Introduction of MPVC in long tunnel of the Doto Expressway

Abstract

Section between Yubari - Shimukappu interchange of the Doto Expressway was newly opened to public in October 2011. The section contains 5 major long tunnels, where its environmental issues inside due to seasonal traffic volume increase during rush period from spring to fall have been confirmed. In addition, the seasonal temperature differences between inside and outside tunnels in winter is causing a related issue. By receiving this fact, we have had an evaluation opportunity for introducing MPVC, which uses prediction of environmental fluctuation as its main source for optimized ventilation control.
