An economic consideration on new technology and social revolution

Abstract

Productive workforce decreases under declining birth rate and a growing proportion of elderly people in Japan. It is an urgent issue how we face decreasing of productive workforce. Here, we examine (1) keeping productive workforce through population policies including usage of foreign workforce, (2) development of technology thorough innovation policy. We review previous works and policy trends. Particularly, we discuss substitution between capital and labor about (2). Then, we examine whether machine steal jobs from human workers.
