Abstract

For the purpose of artificial skin installed in a robot, a new method of the solidification of a natural rubber as soft and elastic material has been developed. The solidification is practiced by an electrolytic polymerization with aiding a magnetic field and utilizing a magnetic compound fluid (MCF) which has been developed by the present author in 2001. The macroscopic investigation, in the present study, was conducted on with the measurement of viscosity, voltage, electric current and temperature of the MCF rubber between the electrodes under the electrolytic polymerization. The new method of the solidification of a rubber is expectable for the variated engineering applications having elasticity.
