Abstract

From the white paper on aging society, published by cabinet office in 2016, the percentage of 65 years old or elder rate (the population aging rate) in Japanese population is 26.7%. In the white paper, the population of 65 years old or elder will be increased and it is predicted that the population aging rate reached to 39.9%. Therefore, it is predicted that traffic accidents caused by elderly drivers will be increased. For elderly person, it is indicated that the risk level meeting traffic accident is greater than young person by physical depression from aging. Operation support system or automatic operation technologies, making impressive progress in recent years, are expected as preventive measures for traffic accidents by elderly drivers. For effective use of these technologies, it is important to clarify objects for operation support. In this study, the author analyzed traffic accident data by accident factors (vehicle type, accident type, road type, law violation, etc.), using traffic accident integrated data, stored in ITRADA (Institute Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis). And the author estimated effecting operation supports for elderly drivers by comparing characteristics of traffic accident by age group of drivers (24years old or younger, 40's, 75 years old or elder).
