Carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) has high performance properties such as high productivity, recyclability and impact resistance compared to thermosetting composites. This study aims to reveal the effects of pressure and cooling rate on joining strength of CFRTP laminates in electric fusion bonding. The materials used for specimen is woven CF/PPS laminates. The woven-CF was inserted between the laminates as a resistance heating element. From the experimental results, it was found that the welding area ratio and the tensile shear strength become larger as the initial applied pressure becomes larger, and the thickness of the welding joint part decreases. As a result, it was found that the woven-CF/PPS laminate deforms, so that the applied pressure drops greatly. When the cooling rate was slowed, the tensile shear strength decreased. It is considered that the restraint of the resin was weakened by the decrease of the applied pressure.
