About the mid-ship layout vehicle where the engine room is behind the cabin, it is easy to improve the performance of driving motion and optimize the front/rear weight balance required for motor sports cars. However, wind is not easily taken into the engine room, and therefore many thermal troubles caused by the engine have occurred. In this study, several methods of scavenging the cooling wind flowing into the engine room from the air duct and others were set in the mid-ship vehicle, and the influence on the aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle was investigated by wind-tunnel experiments using the moving belt and load cells. The change of lift and drag coefficients by scavenging method was discussed on the basis of smoke visualization.
