Abstract

In automated driving level 3, delegation of driving authority between the driver and the automated driving system (ADS) may be necessary in the context of the interaction among the automated driving vehicle and its surrounding vehicles and obstacles. To realize appropriate interaction between a driver and ADS, the role of the Human Machine Interface (HMI) connecting the driver and ADS is important. In this paper, the functions required for HMI are defined, considering the interaction among the automated driving vehicle and external environment based on the system model described by Systems Modeling Language (SysML).
