JAXA has conducted a research and development on a strain measurement technology using Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry-Fiber Bragg Grating, OFDR-FBG. This technology has an ability to measure strain distributions of a long object with a high resolution in space and, simultaneously, at a high sampling rate faster than 150Hz. In 2016 and 2017, flight tests using the JAXA research aircraft, HISHO, had been conducted to demonstrate the performance of OFDR-FBG strain measurement technology under real flight conditions. The strain distributions of the fuselage stringer and the wing spar had been measured under typical maneuver conditions such as banked turns. In this presentation, the measured data responding to these maneuver motions are presented.
