IoT technology that can improve machine utilization by connecting manufacturing equipments and devices is attentioned. On the other hand, the security risk of information leakage, operation disturbance, and injury to persons is increasing. The system architecture, programming language and operation are greatly different between manufacturing automation system and IT system. Therefore, many organizations are promoting R&D, standardization, and human resource development on the security of manufacturing automation. This paper describes these situations in Japan.
