In order to understand PM emission by fuel firm combustion, we developed time resolved measurement method of PM exhausted from unsteady diffusion combustion of iso-octane fuel. In this study, soot formation from unsteady pool flames on a shallow dish under three ambient temperature conditions was investigated as a fundamental study of fuel film combustion. Relationships among flame length, fuel consumption rate, PM exhausted rate and PM number concentration were measured. As the result, it was found that the flame gradually increased with time elapsed, and it was disturbed at the final stage the pool combustion. Therefore, much of PM was exhausted just before flame extinguishment.
