According to White Paper on the Aged Society of the Cabinet Office in 2017 year version, the proportion of the population aged 65 years or older in the total population of Japan continues to increase. Therefore, it will be expected an increase of traffic accidents by elderly drivers. Due to these social backgrounds, the Hiroshima prefectural police is also working on the promotion and promotion of safe driving support vehicles in order to reduce traffic accident damage caused by elderly drivers. And it is important to show the effect in order to promote the spread of safe driving support vehicles. In this study, the author have extracted collision data between motorcycles or motorized bicycles and 4-wheeled vehicles, from integrated traffic accident data stored in Institute for Traffic Accident Research and Data Analysis (ITARDA). Then, an approximate expression was derived from the relationship between the collision velocity and fatal or serious injury rate of riders. And, by applying this approximate expression to the accident cases in Hiroshima Prefecture, the author estimated the damage reduction effect of a safe driving support vehicles.
