In order to measure glucose concentration in human skin using near-infrared (NIR) light, we investigated the NIR absorption spectrum of glucose aqueous solutions and selected four characteristic wavelengths: 945, 1200, 1350, and 1600 nm. A supercontinuum light source with acousto-optic tunable filter and a light-emitting diode were used as the light source. White optical phantoms made by mixing gelatin, intralipid solution, glucose, and water were prepared as the measurement samples. The light beams at the multi-wavelengths were incident in turn to the phantoms, and the transmitted and reflected light was detected by a 16-channel-photo diode array. The glucose concentrations were estimated using a neural network model constructed from the measured data.
