This paper aims to investigate the characteristics in the velocity field of the two-dimensional jet issued into the uniform flow. Experimental parameter is the velocity ratio Vr of the jet to the counter flow. Conditional statistics of the velocity field averaged on the curvature of the jet centerline were examined in relation to the jet flapping. The velocity fields were obtained by PIV and static pressure fields were also measured in this experiment. It was revealed that the static pressure along the jet centerline has its local minimum at a mid-point upstream of the mean stagnation point. By examining the flow rate and the x-momentum entering through the control surfaces on upper and lower sides of the nozzle, the jet flapping was suggested to be related to an induced flow entered from the upstream of the nozzle and entrained into the jet.
