Abstract

Shock absorber is an automobile component which attenuates oscillation of suspension and contributes to stabilize motion of automobiles. It plays an important role in comfortableness and controllability of automobiles. Damping force of shock absorber is resultant force of hydraulic oil pressure and friction force on sliding parts, and recently controlling friction force has been attracted attention. In this report, sliding tests were performed on piston rods, and guide bushes using hydraulic oils for shock absorber, and the friction behavior obtained for each combination was discussed. In addition, piston rods after sliding tests were analyzed by Raman spectroscopy.
