Abstract

Simple scattering models, such as variable hard sphere (VHS) and variable soft sphere (VSS) molecular models, for inverse power law potential are applied to the Monte Carlo simulation of rarefied gas flow between two parallel flat plates. The flow profiles between plat plates are comparaed with those of inverse power law potential. It is demonstrated that some descrepancies are observed for Kundsen number Kn > 1 between the simple scattering models and IPL potential.
