The objective of this study is to search for the optimal shape of turbulent grids to achieve high mixing performance. In order to achieve this, the optimization problem of turbulent grids was formulated, an effective initial database for global optimization was proposed, and direct numerical simulations were performed for representative grid shapes. As a result, it was found that there is a trade-off between the pressure drop and mixing performance. The data mining results showed that the turbulent Reynolds number and scale dissipation rate are physical quantities that characterize the mixing.
